Later this spring, we are thrilled to invite you to join us on a marine safari deep in Baja’s Sea of Cortez. Relaxed luxury stays in La Paz will bookend a tented expedition to Isla San Jose. The campsite will offer a full-service experience with all meals and logistics (and a generator and simple bathrooms) provided.
La Paz is the sleepy regional capital of Baja that sits on the Sea of Cortez. A city facing the sea, it is characterized by the bright blue of the ocean, white and tan sand beaches, and the desert hues of the low mountains surrounding the town.
Our trip is in partnership with our friends from Conserva Collective, a Baja-based conservation and education group led by Brandon Rus, who will be joining us. The Tiny Atlas team will consist of founder Emily Nathan, and Eden Batki, trip maven, and occasional chef.
Baja Club is a new lifestyle hotel that overlooks the “Malecon” or coastal boardwalk in the historic center of La Paz. After a welcome dinner and cozy night at the hotel, we will adventure north along the coast in 4x4’s to our campsite. En route, we will pass through a tiny Mexican fishing village and transfer via speedboats to Isla San Jose. We will sleep on white-sand beaches with the stars while exploring pristine marine habitats teeming with sea life such as dolphins, sea lions, and innumerable fish.
While this is not a “photography trip” per se, there will be plenty of image makers on the trip, and excursions are optimize for incredible light, with time to capture whatever inspires you.
Back at Baja Club, relax on the roof or enjoy the spa and pool if you want to take your relaxation further. We will also have time to explore town and the burgeoning food scene in La Paz.

Weather
Baja is generally warm (or hot) and clear in the spring, with lows in the 60s and highs up to the 90s. Late nights/early mornings will be cool, and late afternoons quite warm. There is hardly any rain this time of year in Baja, and it will be light for over 13 hours per day. Water temperatures will be divine to explore sealife and relax. Wetsuits will be available on Isla San Jose however, please bring one if you prefer your own.
As with any trip, unexpected inclement weather is always a possibility.

Testimonials
"Traveling in Croatia with TAQ was truly a remarkable and unique travel experience that was the perfect balance of planned activities and time to explore on my own. The connections that the TAQ team (Emily and Eden) made prior to the trip with the guides and the restaurants where we had meals gave the trip a very local feel and as if we were getting the full Croatian experience - and one that we couldn’t find in the guidebooks. Not to mention, some of these meals and experiences were so thoughtfully planned, that I wouldn’t have even thought to plan them on my own. The group aspect of this trip was a real highlight and it was such a joy traveling alongside so many inspiring and wonderful people. I love TAQs way of travel and would travel with them again and again!"
